Accused sentenced to death for murdering five members of an Indian Family in Dubai

The Special Judge, CBI Special Court No.4, Mirzapur, Ahmedabad has convicted accused Ravjibhai Manubhai Pawar in the murder of his employer Shri Ramesh K.Sagar and his four family members at Dubai. He has been sentenced to undergo Capital Punishment as per Section 354(5) of Cr.PC and other relevant sections of IPC.

The case was registered by CBI, Ahmedabad (now Gandhinagar) Branch on 27.04.1992 for the offences punishable U/s 302 r/w 4 of IPC on the basis of the request/consent of the Government of Gujarat for further investigation of Cr.No.14/92 of Chikhli Police Station.

CBI investigation revealed that the accused Ravjibhai Manubhai Pawar while working as a Domestic Servant at Dubai had killed his Indian employer Shri Ramesh K.Sagar and his four family members on 04.01.1992. After murdering, rape and stealing house hold articles(clothes, ornaments, money etc.), the accused Ravjibhai fled from Dubai on 05.01.1992 and came to India. On the basis of an Interpol alert, accused Ravjibhai was nabbed on 10.01.1992 by Gujarat Police and an FIR was registered. Since the accused Ravjibhai was Indian National and the offence took place outside India, the case was entrusted to CBI. The Dubai Police had also registered an FIR vide Cr.No.12/92 U/s 332 of the Federal Act, 1987(2) and collected evidences, which were used by CBI during investigation and trial of this case.

The chargesheet was filed on 23.10.1992 in the Court of CJM, Chikhli vide Spl.Case No.37/92 for the offences punishable U/s 302 r/w 4 of IPC, 376 & 381 IPC.

The Trial Court found the accused guilty and convicted him.
