CBI ARRESTS A DEPUTY GENERAL MANAGER OF SECL IN A BRIBERY CASE

The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested a Deputy General Manager, South Eastern Coal Fields Limited, Sohagpur, Distt. Shahdol for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.30,000/- from the complainant.

The complainant, a Civil Contractor based at Sohagpur, Distt.-Shahdol has alleged in his complaint that the accused had demanded a bribe @ 3% of the tender amount of Rs.10 lakh i.e. bribe amounting to Rs.30,000/- for allowing issue of Work Order and not creating obstacles in awarding of contract to his firm for repairing of Bungwar Road in SECL.

A case was registered U/s 7 of P.C.Act, 1988 against the Dy. General Manager, SECL and a trap was laid on yesterday. The Dy. General Manager, SECL was caught red handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.30,000/- from the complainant. The bribe amount of Rs.30,000/- thrown in WC(toilet) by the accused, was recovered along with other suspect cash amount of Rs.2.19 lakh.

Searches conducted at the official & residential premises of the Dy.General Manager at various locations yielded a recovery of Bank accounts and 3 immovable properties.

The arrested accused is being produced today in the Designated Court.
