BRANCH MANAGER AND 15 OTHER ACCUSED SENTENCED FOR CAUSING LOSS OF Rs.56.80 LAKH TO CENTRAL BANK OF INDIA

The Special Judge for CBI cases, Bhopal has convicted sixteen accused persons including the then Branch Manager, Central Bank of India, Phoop Branch, Disstt. Bhind (MP) for causing loss of Rs.56.80 lakh. The Court sentenced Sh. Pradeep Kumar, the then, Branch Manager, Central Bank of India, Phoop Branch, Disstt. Bhind (MP) to undergo three years simple imprisonment with fine of Rs.50,000/-; Sh. Ranveer Singh Sikarwars; Rakesh Singh Tomar to undergo four years rigorous imprisonment with fine of Rs. One lakh each; Eight accused persons i.e. Sh. Akhilesh Kumar Bhardwaj, Sh. Raguraj Singh, Sh. Mohar Singh, Sh. Anuj Kumar Kuril, Sh. Rajendra Singh, Sh. Shariful Hussain, Harnam Singh & Sh. Pramod Kumar Dixit to undergo two years rigorous imprisonment with a fine of Rs.11,000/- each; five accused persons i.e. Sh. Tunde @ Tek Chand, Sh. Neeraj Singh, Sh. Lokendra Singh, Sh. Surendra Singh & Sh. Sanjay Singh to undergo one year rigorous imprisonment with a fine of Rs.11,000/- each.

The Central Bureau of Investigation, had registered Case U/s 120 B r/w 419, 420, 467, 468, 471 IPC and 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) of PC Act, 1988 against, Shri Pradeep Kumar, the then Branch Manager, Central Bank of India, Phoop Branch, Bhind; Shri Rakesh Kumar Tomar & Shri Ranveer Singh Sikarwar both Directors of M/s S.T. Cold Storage Pvt. Ltd., Village Phoop, Dist. Bhind and Others on the allegation that in criminal conspiracy with Shri Rakesh Kumar Tomar & Shri Ranveer Singh Sikarwar and others, Shri Pradeep Kumar, the then Branch Manager, Central Bank of India, during the period 2003-04 abused his official position and sanctioned & disbursed 15 loans amounting to Rs.56.80 lacs to the 15 borrowers against the false cold storage receipts of potatoes purportedly issued by the M/s S.T. Cold Storage Pvt. Ltd. by violating the laid down guidelines of the Bank. The potatoes purportedly pledged to the bank were not available in the cold storage. The accused persons caused wrongful gain to themselves and a loss of Rs.56.80 lakh approx to bank.

After investigation, CBI filed a chargesheet against 19 persons including the then Branch Manager, Central Bank of India, Branch Phoop, Distt. Bhind in the Court of Special Judge for CBI Cases, Bhopal on 12.12.2006 U/s 120 B r/w 419, 420, 467, 468, 471 IPC and 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) of PC Act, 1988.

The Trial Court found 16 accused person guilty for the offences and convicted them. Sh. Rajendra Singh & Sh. Dinesh Singh Bhadoriya were acquitted by the Court and Sh. Subhash Singh died during the trial.
