The Central Bureau of Investigation has filed a charge sheet in the Court of Special Judge (CBI Cases), Bhopal against two Enforcement Officers, Employees’ Provident Fund Organization, Bhopal U/s 120-B of Indian Penal Code, Sec.7 and Sec.13 (2) r/w 13 (1) (d) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. PC Act, 1988 in a bribery case of Rs.1.5 lakh

The case was registered in CBI, Bhopal Branch U/s 120-B of IPC, Sec.7 of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 on 17.05.2011 on the basis of a complaint lodged by the Proprietor of Bhopal based firm against the said two Enforcement Officers, Employees’ Provident Fund Office Bhopal on the allegations that the said Enforcement Officers had demanded bribe of Rs.two lakh for completing EPFO inspection of his firm and sending the report to Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (BHEL) Bhopal.

A trap was laid and both the accused Enforcement Officers, EPFO, Bhopal were caught while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs.1.5 Lakhs from the Complainant. The bribe was recovered from one of the accused persons in presence of independent witness. Thereafter, searches were conducted at office and residential premises of the accused persons. Later on they were released on bail on the orders of the Hon'ble High Court of Madhya Pradesh Bench at Jabalpur.

After investigation, CBI filed the chargesheet.

The Public is reminded that the above findings are based on the investigation done by CBI and evidence collected by it. Under the Indian Law, the accused are presumed to be innocent till their guilt is finally established after a fair trial.
