CBI REGISTERS A CASE AGAINST THE THEN MANAGING DIRECTOR OF ASSAM INDUSTRIAL INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION LTD. AND OTHERS

The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered a case against the then Managing Director, Assam Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (A Govt. of Assam Undertaking); Director of Beltola, Guwahati based private firm; Sales Manager, North Eastern Coalfields, Margherita, Assam and unknown others.

It was alleged that in the year 2008-09 coal allotted by the Coal India Limited from North Eastern Coal Fields Ltd., Margherita to the AIIDC was allegedly diverted and sold in open market instead of supplying them among the eligible small units like Bricklin, tea gardens etc. in conspiracy amongst AIIDC, CIL and private parties.

Searches were conducted at the residential & office premises of accused persons. During searches, incriminating documents, bank accounts and cash of Rs.47 lakh & 15,000 US Doller were recovered from the house of Director of Beltola Guwahati based firm. Incriminating documents were recovered from other places which are under scrutiny.

Further investigation is continuing.
