TWO ACCUSED SENTENCED IN SSLC QUESTION PAPER LEAKAGE CASE

The Additional District and Sessions Court, Ernakulam has convicted Smt.Bindu Vijayan and Smt. Sindhu Surendran U/s 120-B, 381 and 411 IPC in SSLC Question Paper leakage case. Both of them have been sentenced to undergo Simple Imprisonment for three years and to pay a fine of Rs. 30,000/- each.

The investigation revealed that Smt. Bindu Vijayan and Smt. Sindhu Surendran and a private person entered into a criminal conspiracy among themselves in January, 2005 to steal the question papers of SSLC Examination 2005 to facilitate the passing of SSLC Examination by the son of Smt. Bindu Vijayan. In furtherance of the conspiracy, Smt. Sindhu Surendran directed the private person (a casual employee) of M/s Viswanathan (Printers and Publishers) Pvt. Ltd., Chennai, in which Press, the Question Papers of SSLC Examination 2005 were printed, to steal the question papers from the printing Press and to hand over the same to her. In pursuance of the said agreement, the casual employee of printing Press stole the question papers of the Model Examination of SSLC Examination in February 2005 and SSLC Examination March, 2005 on three occasions and stealthily handed over them to Smt. Sindhu Surendran at Chennai, who had sent the same through Couriers from Chennai to Smt. Bindhu Vijayan at her residential address at Trivandrum.

Smt. Bindhu Vijayan received the question papers and used them for preparing her son (student of SSLC) for the SSLC Model Examination held in February, 2005 and the SSLC Examination held in March 2005. He has circulated the photocopies of those question papers to a few of his friends, who were also appearing for the SSLC Examination 2005.

The CBI filed the chargesheet against both the accused in April, 2007 in the Designated Court, Ernakulam (Kerala). The Court found both the accused guilty and convicted them.
