CBI ARRESTS A COLONEL (DOCTOR) OF MILITARY HOSPITAL IN A BRIBERY CASE

The Central Bureau of Investigation has today arrested a Colonel rank Doctor of Military Hospital, Ambala for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.10,000/- from the Complainant.

A case under the provisions of Prevention of Corruption Act was registered on a complaint regarding demand of bribe by a Colonel rank Doctor at Military Hospital, Ambala for declaring the candidates, medically fit in the recruitment of Army. The Colonel(Dr.), an ENT Specialist declared the complainant medically unfit in the test conducted at Military Hospital in the forenoon of 8.10.2011. In the afternoon, the complainant met the doctor at his residence. The doctor demanded a bribe of Rs.10,000/- from him. After receipt of bribe, the doctor declared the candidate medically fit. CBI laid a trap and the doctor was caught red handed while demanding and accepting the bribe of Rs.10,000/- from the complainant.

Searches are being conducted at the office and residential premises of the accused.

Further investigation regarding other instances of corruption in the medical examination of candidates is being carried out.
