TWO OFFICIALS OF N.F RAILWAY AND A PROPRIETOR OF PRIVATE FIRM SENTENCED IN A CBI CASE

The Special Judge, CBI, Guwahati (Assam) has convicted Shri A.N. Borah, the then Senior Stores & Shri R. Sutradhar, the then Office Superintendent, both working in the office of Controller of Stores, N.F. Railway, Maligaon (Guwahati), U/s. 120(B)/420 IPC and Section 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) of PC Act., 1988 and Shri Sashikant Agarwal, Proprietor of M/s. Gautam Stores, Anupama Cinema Hall Complex, Maligaon, Guwahati U/s. 120(B)/420/471 IPC. They were sentenced to undergo two years rigorous imprisonment with a fine of Rs. 10,000/-

A case was registered on 29.11.2000 against the said Railway officials for showing undue favour to Sh. Sashikant Agarwal, Proprietor of M/s. Gautam Stores, Anupama Cinema Hall Complex, Maligaon (Guwahati) in procurement of 40 nos. of substandard hospital beds at highly exorbitant rate for N.F. Railway Hospital at Tinsukia in the year 1995-1996, thereby causing considerable loss to the N.F. Railway.

CBI filed a charge sheet on 21.02.2003. The special Judge found the accused guilty and convicted them.
