SENIOR ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER OF NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF ROCK MECHANICS KOLAR, SENTENCED IN A CORRUPTION CASE

The Special Judge for CBI Cases, Bangalore convicted Shri M.R.Muralidharan, the then Sr. Administrative Officer, National Institute of Rock Mechanics, Kolar (Karnataka) and sentenced him to undergo two years simple imprisonment with a fine of Rs.60,000/-

A charge sheet was filed against Shri M.R.Muralidharan, U/s.409, 420, 467, 468, 471 IPC and Sec.13(2) r/w 13(1)(c) & (d) of the Prevention of Corruption Act-1988. The allegations as per the charge sheet were that Shri M.R.Muralidharan during the period from December, 1994 to February 1997 had misappropriated the funds of the institute to the tune of Rs.13 lakhs into his own account & in the accounts of his close relatives by raising false vouchers, bills.He further prepared cheques to make payments to the parties stated in the vouchers, and misappropriated the funds by obtaining Demand Drafts in the name of his relatives, and deposited the proceeds of the cheques into his own account.

The Trial Court found the accused guilty and convicted him.
