CBI ARRESTS FOUR PERSONS IN CONNECTION WITH THE ALLEGED MURDER OF SHRI PHOOL MOHD, THE THEN SHO, MAN TOWN POLICE STATION IN SAWAI MADHOPUR (RAJASTHAN) AND OTHER OFFENCES

The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested three persons, all residents of Surval Village, and a Sub Inspector of Police (under suspension) in connection with a case relating to the alleged murder of Shri Phool Mohd., the then SHO, Man Town Police Station, Sawai Madhopur(Rajasthan) by a mob on March 17, 2011 and culpable homicide not amounting to murder of Shri Rajesh Meena, resident of Badolas, Sawai Madhopur(Rajasthan) and, damage to public property & hurt to other police personnel.

The three arrested persons, residents of Surval Village, Sawai Madhopur(Rajasthan) were allegedly complicit in burning police vehicles, including the one in which the then SHO Shri Phool Mohd. was lying in an unconscious state. CBI has found the evidentiary material indicated the fourth arrested Sub Inspector to be culpable for commission of riotous offences, as also abetment of the offences.

The FIR was earlier registered at Man Town Police Station, Sawai Madhopur(Rajasthan) U/s 147, 148, 149, 302, 332, 353, 333,440, 201, 309, 120-B of the IPC and U/s 3 of Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act, 1984 and was investigated by CID: CB, Rajasthan Government. The CID: CB of Rajasthan also filed chargesheet in this case on June 21, 2011against 19 accused persons.

The case was taken up by the CBI for further investigation upon the request of the Government of Rajasthan and further directions from the Govt. of India.

The arrested accused persons were produced today before the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Sawai Madhopur and were remanded to three days CBI Custody.

Further investigation is in progress.
