ABSCONDING ACCUSED IN A CBI CASE ARRESTED BY INTERPOL IN DUBAI

Sanjay Kumar Choudhary, a key conspirator and co-accused of the then Chief Minister of Jharkhand has been arrested in Dubai, as per information received from Interpol, UAE on the basis of a Red Corner Notice, issued at the request of CBI

The accused person is facing trial in a CBI case. A chargesheet was filed against him on 12.11.2010 in the Court of Special Judge, CBI, Ranchi under relevant sections of the IPC and Prevention of Corruption Act. The allegations against him are that he, in connivance with other co-accused of Ranchi in the case and the then Chief Minister of Jharkhand, extracted illegal gratification to the tune of Rs.13 crore from one Mumbai based Company for showing favour in the matter of allotment of mining lease for iron-ore mining in the District of West Singhbhum, Jharkhand.

The Court of Special Judge, Ranchi has issued a permanent warrant of arrest against Sanjay Kumar Choudhary and subsequently Interpol had issued the Red Corner Notice on 14th October, 2011 at the request of CBI.

Now CBI will initiate steps to extradite Sanjay Kumar Choudhary from UAE.
