CBI REGISTERS A CASE AGAINST THE THEN DIRECTORS OF SAMEER, CHENNAI/MUMBAI AND OTHERS FOR CAUSING A LOSS TO GOVERNMENT

The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered a case against a former Director, SAMEER(Society for Applied Microwave Electronics Engineering and Research), Taramani, Chennai; former Director, SAMEER, MUMBAI; Scientist-F, Communication Systems Division, SAMEER, Chennai and the then Deputy Director of a United States of America based company for commission of offences punishable U/s 120-B r/w 420 IPC and Section 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) of PC Act, 1988.

The allegation is that the then Director of SAMEER, Chennai; the then Director of SAMEER, Mumbai & Scientist-F of Communication System Division of SAMEER, Chennai in connivance with each other and with the then Deputy Director of a USA based company, during the period from 2005 till date abused their official position as public servants towards the establishment & construction of buildings for Electronics Design Centre at Chennai,thereby causing loss to Government of India.

Searches were conducted at the office premises of accused persons and incriminating documents were seized.

Further investigation is in progress.
