The Then Secretary, Industries & Commerce Department Of Andhra Pradesh Government, remanded to police custody in a CBI case

The MSJ Court, Hyderabad has today remanded an IAS Officer(AP-1988 Batch) who was the then Secretary Industries & Commerce Department, and presently, Commissioner Health & Family Welfare of Andhra Pradesh Government, to Police Custody till 01.12.2011 in a CBI Case.

The CBI arrested the accused yesterday in connection with an on-going investigation relating to an alleged illegal Mining Case. She was produced on the same day before the MSJ Court, Hyderabad. On the directions of said Court, she was again produced today and was remanded to Police Custody till 01.12.2011.

CBI Hyderabad had registered a Regular Case on 7.12.2009, U/s 120-B,420, 379, 411, 427, 447 IPC, Section 13 (2) r/w 13 (1) (d) of PC Act,1988, Section 26 of Indian Forest Act, 1927, Section 21 r/w Sec 4(1) & 4(1)(a) of Section 23 of Mines and Minerals (Development & Regulation) Act, 1957 regarding the alleged illegal mining by the Bellary(Karnataka)-based Mining Company & others. The case was registered on the request of Andhra Pradesh Government and further notification from Govt. of India. The mining leases were granted by the Govt. of Andhra Pradesh to the Bellary based Mining Company.

During investigation CBI examined a large number of witnesses and collected voluminous documents numbering more than one thousand.

Further investigation is continuing.
