ASSISTANT DIVISIONAL ENGINEER OF RAILWAYS AND A SPECIAL ASSISTANT, SBI SENTENCED IN SEPARATE CASES OF BRIBERY.

The Special Judge for CBI Cases, Bhopal has convicted the accused Shri Vipin Agrawal, the then Assistant Divisional Engineer, North Central Railway, Gwalior, U/s 7 of PC Act, 1988 and sentenced him to undergo two years simple imprisonment with a fine of Rs.10,000/-.

A case was registered on 22.09.2007 against accused Shr Vipin Agrawal, Assistant Divisional Engineer, North Central Railway, Gwalior who had demanded an illegal gratification of Rs.10,000/- from the complainant for forwarding his third running bill of repair work of platform to Divisional Office for payment. Shri Vipin Agrawal was caught red handed by CBI while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.10,000/- from the complainant.

A chargesheet was filed in the Court of Special Judge for CBI Cases, Bhopal against Shri Vipin Agrawal, Assistant Divisional Engineer, North Central Railway, Gwalior U/s 7 and 132) r/w 13(1)(d) of PC Act, 1988. The Court found the accused guilty and convicted him.

In another case, the Special Judge for CBI Cases, Coimbatore, convicted Shri.B.A.Sampathkumar, the then Special Assistant, State Bank of India, Elathagiri Branch, Krishnagiri District and sentenced him to undergo one year Rigorous Imprisonment with a fine of Rs. 2000 /- for demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs.3000/- from the complainant.

A case was registered by CBI on 30.07.2008 based on the complaint of a farmer of Kandhi Kuppam, Kamaraj Nagar, Krishnagiri District, stating that Shri.B.A. Sampathkumar, Special Assistant, State Bank of India, Elathagiri Branch, Krishnagiri District had demanded a bribe of Rs.3,000/- from the complainant for releasing the eligible relief amount of Rs. 20,000/- under the Agriculture Debt Waiver & Debt Relief Scheme -2008. A trap was laid and Shri B.A.Sampathkumar was caught red handed while demanding and accepting the bribe of Rs.3000/- from the complainant. After completion of investigation, a final report was filed against Shri.B.A.Sampathkumar before the court of Special Judge for CBI Cases, Coimbatore u/s. 7 and sec 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. The Court found the person guilty and convicted them.
