CBI ARRESTS A SENIOR TECHNICIAN OF CENTRAL RAILWAY (ALSO AN ASSISTANT SECRETARY IN TRADE UNION) FOR ACCEPTING BRIBES OF RS. TWO LAKHS EACH

           The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested a Senior Technician, Central Railway (also an assistant Secretary in CRMS-Trade Union of Central Railway) for demanding and accepting bribes of Rs. Two Lakhs each from the complainants in two separate cases.

            Two cases were registered at CBI, Mumbai against a Sr. Technician, Central Railway (also an Assistant Secretary in CRMS-Trade Union of Central Railway) for demanding bribes of Rs. Five Lakh each from two complainants for allegedly arranging them a job of Ticket Collector in the Railways from VIP quota through some senior Railway Officers / Politician at New Delhi. CBI laid a trap and the accused Senior Technical was caught while demanding & accepting bribes of Rs. 2 lakhs each from the complainants as a part payment.

            During Initial investigation, the accused disclosed the name of a middleman (private person) for arranging jobs in the Railways and the bribe amount had to be delivered to him. The middleman was also apprehended while accepting the amount from the accused.

           The middleman allegedly having links with some persons at New Delhi with whom he has tie-ups for arranging such job after heavy amounts as bribe. It is also alleged that touts are operating at Railway Ministry who promise jobs at Railway for a price.

            Both the arrested accused were produced before the Designated Court at Mumbai and were remanded to Police Custody till 13.01.2012.

            Further investigation is in progress.
