CBI REGISTERS A PRELIMINARY ENQUIRY IN ALLEGED IRREGULARITIES IN THE SALE OF DEFENCE LAND AT KANDIVLI (MUMBAI)

            The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered a Preliminary Enquiry yesterday based on a report received from the Additional Director General (Discipline and Vigilance), Union Ministry of Defence which pertains to alleged irregularities in the sale of Defence Land at Kandivli (Mumbai).

            It was alleged in the report that certain Senior Army Officers, while serving in the Southern Command committed gross misconduct in as much as a plot of land, which was in the possession of Central Ordnance Depot (COD), Kandivli, Mumbai was relinquished unauthorizedly and later on the same was sold to Mumbai based Builder. The said Builder has constructed a 31 storied apartment on the plot which is overlooking the Ordnance Depot of the Army and thereby compromised the security of the Ordnance. Serious complicities of the then officials of Collector, Mumbai is also alleged in the report.

            CBI has taken up the enquiry.
