CBI ARRESTS A JUNIOR TELECOM OFFICER (JTO) IN A BRIBERY CASE

           The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested a Junior Telecom Officer (Electrical), Sub-Division-III, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd., Jabalpur (M.P.) for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.20,000/- from the complainant.

 

            Based on a complaint of Jabalpur (MP) based complainant, a case was registered against a Junior Telecom Officer (Electrical), Sub-Division-III, BSNL, Jabalpur (MP) U/s 7 of PC Act, 1988. It was alleged that the accused had demand a bribe of Rs.20,000/- for showing official favour for processing & forwarding bills amounting to Rs.57 Lakhs (approx.) of complainant pertaining to various maintenance & electrification works conducted at various sites located in the Narsinghpur District of Madhya Pradesh.

 

            A trap was laid and the Junior Telecom Officer was caught red handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.20,000/- from the complainant. Searches at the official and residential premises of the JTO were conducted and incriminating documents were seized.
