TWO ACCUSED PERSONS SENTENCED TO UNDERGO RIGOROUS IMPRISONMENT WITH TOTAL FINE OF RS.1.10 LAKH IN A CASE RELATING TO BOGUS SUPPLY OF AYURVEDIC MEDICINES TO GOVT. OF U.P.

            The Special Judge for CBI cases, Lucknow has convicted Shri Subhash Singh @ Subhash Saxena and Prem Pratap Singh both suppliers of Ayurvedic Medicines in one of the cases relating to Ayurvedic Scam in Uttar Pradesh. Accused Subhash Singh @ Subash Saxena was sentenced to undergo four years Rigorous Imprisonment with a fine of Rs.55,000/- and other accused Prem Pratap Singh to undergo two years Rigorous Imprisonment with a fine of Rs.55,000/-.

 

            The investigation revealed that the accused persons had shown bogus supply of Ayurvedic medicines to the Govt. of U.P. and taken payments at exorbitant rates in connivance with the officials of Ayurved Department of the Govt. of U.P. This case was part of a scam investigated by the CBI on the orders of Hon'ble High Court in the Ayurved Department of Uttar Pradesh Govt. worth crores of rupees.

 

            The CBI filed several chargesheets in the matter against doctors, officials of Ayurved Department including the then Director, Ayurvedic Deptt.. of U.P. Govt. and certain suppliers of medicines & middlemen.

 

            This is the first case of the scam in which judgement has been pronounced by the Court. The trial of the other cases is in progress.
