CBI ARRESTS A SUPERINTENDENT OF SERVICE TAX IN A BRIBERY CASE

            The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested a Superintendent, Service Tax, IAP-X, Bangalore for demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs.25,000/-from the complainant.

 

            A case was registered against him U/s 7 of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 on the allegation of demanding a bribe from the complainant as a motive or reward for not imposing heavy service tax penalty and also to allegedly close the file.

 

            The Superintendent was caught red handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.25,000/- from the complainant Search was conducted at the residential premises of the accused.

 

            The arrested accused was produced before the Special Judge for CBI Cases, Bangalore who remanded the accused person to Judicial Custody.

 

            Further investigation is in progress.
