CBI FILES SUPPLEMENTARY CHARGESHEET AGAINST THE THEN SECRETARY, INDUSTRIES & COMMERCE DEPTT, GOVT. OF ANDHRA PRADESH IN AN ILLEGAL MINING CASE

            The Central Bureau of Investigation has filed a supplementary chargesheet on 30.03.2012 in the Court of Special Judge for CBI cases, Hyderabad against an IAS Officer, the then Secretary, Industries & Commerce Department, Govt. of Andhra Pradesh U/s 120-B, 409 IPC and Section 13 (2)r/w13(1)(d) of PC Act 1988 in an on-going investigation relating to an alleged illegal mining case. The accused has been chargesheeted for the offences of criminal conspiracy, criminal breach of trust and criminal misconduct for causing wrongful gain to Bellary (Karnataka) based mining company & others for grant of mining leases.

 

            A case was registered by Hyderabad branch of CBI on 7.12.2009, U/s 120-B,420, 379, 411, 427, 447 IPC, Section 13 (2) r/w 13 (1) (d) of PC Act,1988, Section 26 of Indian Forest Act, 1927, Section 21 r/w Sec 4(1) & 4(1)(a) of Section 23 of Mines and Minerals (Development & Regulation) Act, 1957 regarding the alleged illegal mining by the Bellary(Karnataka)-based Mining Company & others. The case was registered on the request of Andhra Pradesh Government and further notification from Govt. of India. The mining leases were granted by the Govt. of Andhra Pradesh to the Bellary based Mining Company.

 

            During investigation CBI examined a large number of witnesses and collected voluminous documents numbering more than one thousand.

 

            After thorough investigation, CBI filed a chargesheet.

 

            The public is reminded that the above findings are based on the investigation done by CBI and evidence collected by it. Under the Indian Law, the accused are presumed to be innocent till their guilt is finally established after a fair trial
