CBI FILES A CHARGESHEET AGAINST 82 ACCUSED PERSONS INCLUDING TWO THEN MLAs & OTHERS IN A CASE RELATING TO RIOTING, DEMOLITION, THEFT & TRESPASS AT DISTT BETUL (M.P.)

            The Central Bureau of Investigation has filed a Chargesheet under section 147, 148, 149 IPC r/w 380, 426, 427, 436, 447, 451 IPC against 82 accused persons including two the then MLAs; President Janpat Panchayat, Multai; Sarpanch Gram Panchayat, village choutia; Panch of Gram Panchayat, village choutia; Local Leaders of Political Parties and others. in the Court of Special Magistrate, CBI Cases, Jabalpur in a case of arson, rioting, theft, trespass and demolition at Pardhidhana, Village Chouthia, Tehsil - Multai, District - Betul (Madhya Pradesh).

 

            A Case was registered by CBI on 21.08.2009 on the orders of Hon'ble High Court of Madhya Pradesh passed in Criminal Writ Petition No. 15189/2007 to investigate the incident of arson & demolition, took place at at Pardhidhana, Village Chouthia, Tehsil - Multai, District - Betul (M.P.) on 11/09/2007.

 

            The investigation revealed that during the year 1995-96, 11 families who migrated from Maharashtra were allotted 'Patta' by Gram Panchayat, Village Chouthia, Tehsil Multai, District Betul for establishment of houses. They were provided houses under 'Indra Awas Yojana'. With passage of time, 51 families erected their dwellings and whole settlement was called 'Pardhidhana'.

 

            The resentment of certain locals & another community against these families grew and a lady of village Sandia, Tehsil Multai belonging to another caste was allegedly raped and murdered on 09.09.2007. After this incident both the communities became violent and compelled local administration to evict the families out of Pardhidhana on which the local administration assured that unauthorized inhabitants of Pardhidhana would be removed.

 

            Investigation further revealed that during demolition and arson, the then MLA from Masod, Tehsil Multai and the then MLA, Multai reached the said location. They addressed the crowd and allegedly instigated the villagers. The crowd got further charged and again indulged in the act of arson. During incidents, some of members of unlawful assembly participated in rioting with deadly weapons.

 

            After thorough investigation, CBI filed a chargesheet.

 

            The public is reminded that the above findings are based on the investigation done by CBI and evidence collected by it. Under the Indian Law, the accused are presumed to be innocent till their guilt is finally established after a fair trial
