CBI FILES A CHARGESHEET AGAINST THREE ACCUSED PERSONS IN A CASE RELATING TO ALLEGED IRREGULARITIES IN THE PURCHASE OF COMPUTERS AND PERIPHERALS OUT OF NRHM FUNDS IN UTTAR PRADESH

            The Central Bureau of Investigation has today filed a chargesheet in the Court of Special Judge, CBI cases at Lucknow against the then Managing Director, Shreetron India Ltd(a UP state PSU); a Proprietor of a private firm based in Lucknow and a Proprietor of another private firm based in NOIDA/Delhi U/s 120-B r/w 409, 420 IPC and 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) of PC Act,1988 & substantive offences thereof.

 

            A Preliminary Enquiry was earlier registered by CBI on the orders of the Hon'ble Allahabad High Court Lucknow Bench, to enquire into the affairs of State Health Society, UP, SIFSA, IEC Bureau, KGMU, UNOPS and others. As an outcome of the Preliminary Enquiry, a regular case was registered, in the matter relating to alleged irregularities in the purchase of 951 computers and peripherals out of NRHM funds. A wrongful loss of Rs.2.78crores (approx) was caused and the said amount was allegedly misappropriated by accused persons.

 

            The then Managing Director, Shreetron India Ltd(a UP state PSU) who was arrested on 07.01.2012 is in judicial custody.

 

            Further investigation is continuing into the larger conspiracy aspect.

 

            The public is reminded that the above findings are based on the investigation done by CBI and evidence collected by it. Under the Indian Law, the accused are presumed to be innocent till their guilt is finally established after a fair trial.
