CBI CONDUCTS SEARCHES IN AN ON-GOING INVESTIGATION RELATING TO AN ALLEGED MALPRACRTICE IN RAJYA SABHA BIENNIAL ELECTIONS DURING MARCH 2012 IN THE STATE OF JHARKHAND

            The Central Bureau of Investigation has today conducted searches at 38 places in the official & residential premises of certain MLAs including one Cabinet Minister of Jharkhand and one of the Independent Candidates of Rajya Sabha Biennial Elections & others in an on-going investigation relating to an alleged malpractice in Rajya Sabha Biennial Elections during March 2012 in the State of Jharkhand.

 

            Incriminating documents/articles viz. Electronic Gadgets, investment papers, financial transactions etc recovered during searches are being scrutinized. A cash of Rs.14 lakh(approx) & documents showing huge investments on the purchase of land have also been recovered from the possession of an MLA.

 

            This case was registered by CBI on a reference from the Election Commission of India with the directions of Hon'ble Jharkhand High Court relating to an alleged malpractice in Rajya Sabha Elections during March 2012 in the State of Jharkhand.

 

            CBI took up the investigation in this case which was earlier registered under State Police at Namkum P.S. Case No.58/12 dated 30.03.2012 U/s 171(F), 188 r/w 34 of IPC.

 

            Further investigation is continuing.
