TWO PILOTS REMANDED TO CBI CUSTODY IN AN ON-GOING INVESTIGATION RELATING TO ALLEGED LEAKAGE OF QUESTION PAPER OF COMMERCIAL PILOT LICENCE

Press Release
New Delhi , 22.05.2012

The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested two Pilots i.e. one of Alliance Air New Delhi and another of Gurgaon based Private Airlines in an on-going investigation relating to alleged leakage of question paper of Commercial Pilot Licence (Technical).

The arrested accused were produced in the Designated Court at Patiala House, New Delhi and were remanded to police custody up to 23.05.12.

CBI had registered a case on 20.4.2012 U/s 120B r/w 420 IPC and Section 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) of PC Act, 1988, on the allegations relating to leakage of question paper of Commercial Pilot Licence (Technical) held on 15.3.2012, on the basis of a complaint received from Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

It was alleged that the partially vetted question paper was taken out from the Office of Chief Examination Officer of DGCA, which was later passed on to the other pilot and finally reached the private person. A payment of several lakh was made for the leakage of the paper. Thereafter, the question paper was scanned and sent through e-mail to many candidates by the alleged private person. Some of the candidates had further forwarded the said question paper through e-mail to others as well.

The investigation so far unraveled the whole process of leaked question paper from the office of DGCA, which changed hands and finally reached the aspiring candidates either through e-mail or in the form of hard copy.

The private person was earlier arrested by CBI in this case. Presently, he is in judicial custody.

           Further investigation is continuing.
