ACCUSED SENTENCED TO UNDERGO THREE YEARS RIGOROUS IMPRISONMENT IN A CASE RELATED TO POSSESSION OF FAKE INDIAN CURRENCY NOTES (FICN)

            The Additional District Judge, Mumbai has convicted accused Narella Thirupati U/s 489-C of IPC and sentenced him to undergo three years Rigorous Imprisonment with a fine of Rs.1000/- in a case related to possession of Fake Indian Currency Notes(FICN).

 

            The Central Bureau of Investigation had registered a case against Narella Thirupati on 24.6.10 U/s 120-B r/w 489-B & 489-C of IPC for the offence of possession of Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) worth Rs 23.73 lacs. Accused Narella was intercepted by the officials of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Mumbai at CSI Airport, Mumbai while he was coming from Sharjah by Foreign-based flight on 12.05.2010. All the seized currency notes were of Rs 1,000/- denomination.

 

            Shri Narella Thirupati, a resident of Singreni, Godavari Khani, Karimnagar, (Andhra Pradesh) is presentlys under judicial custody at Arthur Road Jail, Mumbai since 02.07.2011.
