CBI FILES A CHARGESHEET AGAINST THEN MINISTER OF KARNATAKA AND SIX OTHERS IN CONNECTION WITH ALLEGED ILLEGALITIES OF MINING LEASE

            The Central Bureau of Investigation has today filed a charge sheet against former Minister, Govt. of Karnataka; his wife; an IAS, the then Director, Mines & Geology Department, Government of Karnataka; an IFS the then Dy. Conservator of Forests, Bellary District; the then Personal Assistant of former Minister; the then Range Forest Officer, Sandur Range, Bellary District(Karnataka) and the then Dy. Director, Department of Mines & Geology, Hospet U/s 120-B, 379, 409, 420, 447, 468, 471, 477-A IPC & Sec.13(2) r/w 13(1)(c) & (d) of the Prevention of Corruption of Act,1988 before the Special Judge for CBI, Cases, Bangalore.

 

            A case was registered by CBI on 01.10.2011, on the directions of Hon’ble Supreme Court of India vide its order dated 23.09.2011 on the allegation of certain illegalities committed by various persons in the matter of mining company lease of Bellary(Karnataka)-based mining company.

 

            After thorough investigation, CBI filed a charge sheet.

 

            Regarding the role of certain firms connected to this case, further investigation is continuing.

 

            The public is reminded that the above findings are based on the investigation done by CBI and evidence collected by it. Under the Indian Law, the accused are presumed to be innocent till their guilt is finally established after a fair trial.
