THEN MEDICAL SUPERINTENDENT OF RAILWAYS SENTENCED IN A BRIBERY CASE

            The Special Judge for CBI Cases, Bangalore has convicted Dr. N. Suresh, the then Medical Superintendent, Railway Hospital, Hubli (Karnatka) to undergo one & half year simple imprisonment with fine of Rs.10,000/- in a bribery case.

 

            The CBI had filed a charge sheet after completion of investigation against Dr. N. Suresh U/s 7 & Sec. 13(2) r/w 13(1) (d) of the Prevention of Corruption Act-1988. The allegations as per the charge sheet were that Dr. N. Suresh was caught red handed while demanding and accepting an illegal gratification of Rs. 4,500/- from a complainant of Hubli for issuing him a medical fitness certificate to join the employment in Railways.

 

            The Trail Court found the accused guilty and convicted him.
