CBI ARRESTS SENIOR DIVISIONAL ENGINEER OF RAILWAY FOR ACCEPTING BRIBE OF Rs. 1.10 LAKH

            The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested a Senior Divisional Engineer of South Western Railway, Hubli (Karnataka) for demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs.1.10 lakh from the complainant.

 

            A case was registered against Sr. Divisional Engineer, South Western Railway, Hubli U/s 7 of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 for demanding a bribe of Rs.1,10,000/- from a contractor for passing his bill.

 

            CBI laid a trap and the accused was caught red handed while demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs.1,10,000/- from the complainant in the presence of independent witnesses. Searches were conducted at various places.

 

            The arrested accused was produced before the Special Judge for CBI Cases, Bangalore and remanded to judicial custody till 28th August 2012.
