CBI REGISTERS ONE MORE CASE RELATING TO ALLEGED IRREGULARITIES IN THE IMPLEMENTATION OF NATIONAL RURAL HEALTH MISSION (NRHM) FUNDS IN UTTAR PRADESH AND CONDUCTS SEARCHES

            The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered one more case U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) of PC Act, 1988 against officials of UP Press Cooperative Federation (PCF) and a private firm on the basis of on-going Preliminary Enquiries into the matter of execution & implementation of National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) funds in Uttar Pradesh. CBI had earlier registered five Preliminary Enquiries in pursuant to the Orders of Hon'ble High Court of Judicature at Allahabad, Lucknow Bench on 15.11.2011.

 

            The case was registered on the allegation that during the year 2010, officials of UPPCF entered into a criminal conspiracy with a Rudrapur (Uttrakhand) based private printing firm for printing of Mother and Child Safety cards under NRHM scheme. In furtherance of which printing work worth Rs. 2.64 crores was awarded to the said private firm at exorbitant rates, without following the proper tender formalities. It was further alleged that only limited NIT was issued, and the specifications of the work was circulated to only the accused private firm and its two sister concerns, which submitted tenders. The process of inviting NITs was allegedly initiated by accused officials of UPPCF, even before the work was officially allotted to it and even before the funds was allotted to DG, Family Welfare.

 

            Searches were carried out in 07 places at Lucknow, Delhi and Rudrapur(Uttrakhand).

 

            CBI had earlier registered 17 cases so far involving irregularities in the utilization of NRHM Funds allocated to Uttar Pradesh.

 

            Further investigation is in progress.
