CBI ARRESTS A SUPERINTENDENT OF CUSTOMS AND SECTION ENGINEER OF CENTRAL RAILWAY IN TWO SEPARATE CASES OF BRIBERY

            The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested a Superintendent of Customs and a Section Engineer of Central Railway in two separate cases of bribery.

 

            CBI registered a case against a Superintendent of Customs, Postal Appraising Section, Videsh Dak Bhavan, Ballard Estate, Mumbai U/s 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 for demanding a bribe of Rs.3000/- from the complainant for allegedly reducing the invoice value of product i.e Tablet PC (Wacom Cintiq brand) which was purchased by the complainant through online shopping site from foreign country.

 

            A trap was laid and the Supdt. of Customs and one Agent were arrested while demanding & accepting the bribe from the complainant.

 

            In the another case, CBI has arrested a Senior Section Engineer, Control Equipment Section, Matunga Workshop, Central Railway, Mumbai while demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs.5000/- as first instalment out of Rs.8000/- from the complainant.

 

            A case was registered on the allegations against Senior Section Engineer, Control Equipment Section, Matunga Workshop, Central Railway, Mumbai U/s 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 for demanding bribe of Rs.8000/-from the complainant for preparing indent & giving a supply order in a new tender.

 

            Further investigation in the cases is continuing
