TWO YEARS RIGOROUS IMPRISONMENT TO THREE ACCUSED IN A CHEATING CASE

            The Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Egmore, Chennai has convicted Shri M. Sakthivel of Food Corporation of India who was the then President, Food Corporation of India South Zone Co-operative Society; his wife Smt. S.Thenmozhi and Shri T.Rajendran, the than Secretary of the society in a cheating case and sentenced them to undergo two years Rigorous Imprisonment with total fine of Rs. 50,000/-

 

            The Investigation revealed that the accused persons hatched a criminal conspiracy during May, 2005 with an intention to cheat the Syndicate Bank by using forged documents as genuine to get the housing loan sanctioned from Syndicate bank, Teynampet Branch, Chennai in favour of Shri M.Sakthivel and his wife Smt. S. Thenmozhi. In pursuance of said conspiracy, Shri. M.Sakthivel and Smt. S. Thenmozhi jointly submitted a loan application along with forged documents such as pay slip of Shri M.Sakthivel for the month of April, 2006 as income proof showing gross salary of Rs 34,985/- and net pay of Rs 24,648/- per month for sanction of the said loan with the help of Shri. T. Rajendharan, the then Secretary, Food Corporation of India South Zone Employee Co-operative Society, Chennai. Based on the said loan documents, housing loan amounting to Rs.20 lakh was sanctioned.

 

            A chargesheet was filed by CBI against the accused persons before the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Chennai U/s 120-B r/w. 420, 464, 465, 468 and 471 IPC.

 

            The Trial Court found all the three accused guilty and convicted them.
