CBI ARRESTS AN ABSCONDING ACCUSED IN CONNECTION WITH SEIZURE OF BODY PARTS OF THE TIGER & PANGOLIN

            The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested an absconding accused in connection with seizure of body parts of the Tiger & Pangolin in Assam.

 

            The arrested accused was produced in the Court of Guwahati and was remanded to Police Custody up to 09.10.2012.

 

            The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered five cases for the offences under IPC and Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972, on the request of Ministry of Environment & Forest(Govt. of India) regarding seizure of body parts of Pangolin and Tiger (both protected animals) in Assam

 

            The seizures were made by the Anti-Smuggling Unit, Customs Division, Guwahati during June 16 to 19, 2011, but the accused persons involved in the instant crime could not be identified.

 

            CBI took up the investigation of all these five cases and arrested the absconding Kingpin of the case after a long chase.

 

            Further investigation is continuing.
