TWO YEARS RIGOROUS IMPRISONMENT TO THEN BRANCH MANAGER OF UNION BANK OF INDIA IN A BRIBERY CASE

        The Special Judge, CBI cases, Jabalpur has convicted Shri Rajendra N. Verma the then Branch Manager, Union Bank of India, Gurh Duwari, Distt. Riwa (M.P) and sentenced him to undergo two years Rigorous Imprisonment with a fine of Rs.7000/- U/s 7 of PC Act. 1988 and U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) of PC Act.1988 in a bribery case.

 

        The complainant had alleged in his complaint that Shri R.N. Verma, Branch Manager of Union Bank of India, Branch Gurh-duwari,Distt. Riwa (M.P) was demanding a bribe of Rs.15,000/- for sanctioning and disbursing the Education loan in the name of his son who got admitted in National Law Institute University, Bhopal. A case under section 7 of PC Act was registered and a trap was laid on 04.03.2010. The accused was caught red handed, while demanding and accepting the bribe amount of Rs 5,000/ as part payment of the total bribe of Rs.15,000/- from the complainant.

 

        After thorough investigation, CBI filed a chargesheet against the accused in the Designated Court. The Court found the accused guilty and convicted him.
