CBI FILES A CHARGESHEET AGAINST THEN MANAGING DIRECTOR OF ASSAM INDUSTRIAL INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION(AIIDC) AND A PRIVATE PERSON FOR MISAPPROPRIATION OF Rs. THREE CRORE(APPROX)

The Central Bureau of Investigation has filed a chargesheet against the then Managing Director, Assam Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation( AIIDC) and a Director of Guwahati-based private firm, U/s. 120B, 409 & 471 IPC and Sec. 13(2) r/w 13(1)(c) and (d) of P.C, Act. 1988 in the court of Special Judge, CBI Cases, Guwahati for misappropriation of Rs.Three crore(approx).

 

It was alleged that Coal India Limited (CIL) allotted 36,000 MT  of coal from North Eastern Coal Field, Margherita as per Fuel Supply Agreement(FSA) with the Govt. of Assam for distribution of the said Coal to Small Units like Brick Kilns, Tea Estates for the year 2008-10. Accordingly, Govt. of Assam allowed the Assam Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (AIIDC) to lift the said coal for distribution among suitable end-users. The Assam Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation then engaged a Guwahati (Assam)-based private firm to lift and distribute the said coal but a huge quantity of the said coal was diverted instead of distribution among actual end-users.

 

            The investigation revealed that during the period 2008-10, 36864 MT of coal was allotted to AIIDC, and out of this about 15000 MT of coal was diverted by the then Managing Director, AIIDC and the Director of  Guwahati-based private firm and by which they have misappropriated over Rs.3 crore (approx).

 

            After thorough investigation, CBI filed a charge sheet against both the accused in the Court of Special Judge, CBI cases, Guwahati.

 

            The public is reminded that the above findings are based on the investigation done by CBI and evidence collected by it. Under the Indian Law, the accused are presumed to be innocent till their guilt is finally established after a fair trial.
