LIFE IMPRISONMENT TO ONE MORE ACCUSED IN THE MURDER OF CHANDRA SHEKHAR PRASAD EX PRESIDENT JNU STUDENTS' UNION

            The Additional District Judge-XIV, Patna, (Bihar) has convicted accused Rustam Khan U/s 120-B, 302, 307, 149, of IPC & 27 of Arms Act in the murder of Chandra Shekhar Prasad Ex President Jawahar Lal Nehru University (JNU) students' Union and sentenced him to undergo life imprisonment with total fine of Rs.40,000/-.

 

           CBI registered a case on 07.08.1997 on the request of the Bihar Government & further notification from Govt. of India relating to the murder of Sh. Chandra Shekhar Prasad, Ex JNU President and CPI(ML) leader on 31.3.1997 in broad daylight using firearms in Siwan, (Bihar). In the instant case two other persons namely Shyam Narayan Yadav of CPI(ML) and Bhutali Mian @ Thelewala' were also killed.

 

            After thorough investigation, CBI filed a chargesheet on 30.5.1998 against five accused persons, namely Dhruv Kumar Jaiswal; Rustam Khan @ Rustam; Sheikh Munna @ Munna Khan; Ilihas Waris @ Mintu Khan and Md. Riazuddin. Accused Mohd. Riazuddin died during course of trial and accused Rustam Mian @ Rustam was absconding. He was later on arrested and his trial was separated

 

            The Trial Court found the said accused person guilty for the offences and convicted them.

 

            The other three accused persons, namely Dhruv Kumar Jaiswal; Sheikh Munna and Illiyas Warris were earlier sentenced to undergo Life Imprisonment on 23.03.2012.
