LIFE IMPRISONMENT TO TWO ACCUSED IN A CASE RELATING TO MURDER OF AN INSPECTOR OF THE BORDER SECURITY FORCE

            The Designated TADA Court Jammu (J&K) convicted three accused persons, namely Nazir Ahmed Sheikh; Shoukat Ahmed Khan and Farooq Ahmed Chichoo for the murder of Dharambir Singh, Inspector, BSF near Market of Sayeed Rehman Sahib, Srinagar on 26-10-1990 and for their anti-national & terrorist activities. The Court has sentenced Shri Nazir Ahmed Sheikh to undergo Life Imprisonment with total fine of Rs.30,000/-and Shri Shoukat Ahmed Khan to undergo Life Imprisonment with total fine of Rs.27,000/- while the third accused Shri Farooq Ahmed Chichoo to undergo five years Rigorous Imprisonment with total fine of Rs.3,000/-.

 

            The case was registered by CBI on 11-03-1991 on the request of the Jammu & Kashmir Govt and further Notification of Govt of India on 06-03-1991. The CBI took up the investigation of case FIR 105/1990 dated 26-10-1990, earlier registered at Police Station, Nishat, District Srinagar(J&K).

 

            After thorough investigation, CBI filed a chargesheet in the Designated Court. The Court found three accused guilty & convicted them, while acquitting a Constable of Jammu & Kashmir Armed Police from the charges.
