CBI FILES A CHARGESHEET AGAINST FOUR PUBLIC SERVANTS AND SIX PRIVATE PERSONS FOR MISAPPROPRIATION OF Rs. 16.93 LAKHS(APPROX)

            The Central Bureau of Investigation has filed a Charge Sheet before the Special Judge, CBI, Guwahati(Assam) against four public servants i.e. the then Branch Post Master of Algapur Part-V Branch Post Office, Hailakandi, Assam; Zilla Parishad Member of Algapur & Mohanpur, Hailakandi; the then Junior Engineer, Algapur Development Block, Hailakandi; the then Gram Panchayat Secretary of Algapur, Hailakandi and six private persons all from Hailakandi, Assam U/s 120 B, 468, 471 IPC and Section 13(2) R/w 13 (1) (d) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 for fraudulently & dishonestly opening of 185 Post Office Saving Bank Accounts in the names of fictitious Job Card Holders under MGNREGA. The accused subsequently withdraw the credited amount released by the Govt towards payment of wages from the respective SB Accounts, and misappropriated the entire funds for Rs.16,93,300/-(approx) during the year 2009-2011, without actually executing the works at sites.

 

            The public is reminded that the above findings are based on the investigation done by CBI and evidence collected by it. Under the Indian Law, the accused are presumed to be innocent till their guilt is finally established after a fair trial.
