            The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested three private persons working as Customs House Agents of Mumbai-based private company in a bribery case of Rs.50,000/- allegedly demanded on behalf of a Superintendent of Customs, Indeve Customs Freight Station, Somantane Village, District Raigad (Maharashtra).


            A case was registered against one Customs House Agent of a Mumbai-based private company for demanding bribe from the complainant including his fees & other charges. The Complainant, a Proprietor of Mumbai-based private firm doing business of imports of general items has alleged that the accused demanded the bribe from him for managing Customs Officers in clearing goods. CBI laid a trap and the accused was caught red-handed while demanding & accepting bribe of Rs.50,000/- from the Complainant.


            Searches were conducted at five residential premises of accused persons including suspect Superintendent of Customs. During searches, Rs.97 Lakh(approx) in cash; Gold jewellery weighing 237 gms and incriminating documents along with investments made in purchase of 3 flats at Mumbai were recovered from the residence of Superintendent of Customs.


            The arrested accused persons were produced before the Competent Court at Alibag (Maharashtra) and were remanded to CBI custody till 11.02.2013.
