THREE YEARS RIGOROUS IMPRISONMENT WITH FINE OF RS.FOUR LAKH TO THEN OFFICIAL OF MTNL IN A DISPROPORTIONATE ASSETS CASE

            The Special Judge for CBI Cases, Mumbai has convicted Shri Chandrashekhar Naikar, the then Phone Mechanic of Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd(MTNL), Mumbai and sentenced him to undergo three years Rigorous Imprisonment with total fine of Rs.Four Lakh in a disproportionate assets case.

 

            CBI had registered the case against Shri Chandrashekhar Naikar, Phone Mechanic, MTNL, Mumbai U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1) (e) of PC Act, 1988 on the allegation that he amassed huge assets to the tune of Rs. 49.03 Lakh(approx) disproportionate to his known sources of income.

 

            A charge sheet was filed on 29.05.2002 in the Court of Special Judge for CBI Cases, Mumbai against Shri Chandrashekhar Naikar.

 

            The Trial Court found the accused guilty and convicted him.
