THEN ADDITIONAL COMMISSIONER OF INCOME TAX SENTENCED TO UNDERGO THREE YEARS RIGOROUS IMPRISONMENT FOR ACCEPTING A BRIBE OF RS.FOUR LAKH

            The Special Judge for CBI cases, Mumbai has sentenced Shri R.K. Gupta, the then Additional Commissioner of Income Tax, Mumbai to undergo three years Rigorous Imprisonment with fine of Rs.10,000/- U/s 7 & 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) of PC Act 1988.

 

            The case was registered by CBI on 15.12.2008 on the allegations that Shri R.K. Gupta, the then Addl. Commissioner of Income Tax demanded and accepted bribe of Rs.Four Lakh from Complainant (A Tax Consultant) for settlement of Income Tax assessment of his client.

 

            On the completion of investigation, charge sheet U/s 7 & 13(2) r/w IPC 13 (1) (d) of PC Act was filed in the Designated Court at Mumbai.

 

            The Trial Court found the accused guilty and convicted him.
