FIVE YEARS RIGOROUS IMPRISONMENT TO THEN SENIOR TREASURY OFFICER OF BSNL IN A DISPROPORTIONATE ASSETS CASE

            The Designated Court has convicted Sh. Ram Badan Singh, the then Senior Treasury Officer(Accounts), BSNL office, Bihar Sharif in a disproportionate assets case and sentenced him to undergo five years rigorous imprisonment U/s 13(1)(e) r/w 13(2) of PC Act, 1988 with a fine of Rs. 4,00,000/-.

 

            CBI had registered a case on 10.02.2004, on the complaint from Bihar Telecom Circle against Shri Ram Badan Singh, then Sr. Treasury Officer Accounts (T), Bihar Sharif. It was alleged that he misappropriated approximately Rs.31 lakh of telecom revenue collected in Bihar Sharif. During investigation of this case, disproportionate assets possessed by accused Shri Ram Badan Singh were unearthed.

 

            The investigation revealed that the accused Shri Ram Badan Singh, the then Sr. T.O.A., BSNL office, Bihar Sharif amassed the movable as well as immovable assets to the tune of more than Rs 14,35,315/-(approx) which were disproportionate to his known sources of his income to the tune of Rs 6,00,000/- (approx).

 

            After investigation, CBI filed chargesheet on 30.11.2004 in the CBI Court.

 

            The Trial Court found the accused guilty and convicted him.
