TWO YEARS IMPRISONMENT TO THREE OFFICIALS OF NUMALIGARH REFINERY LTD(ASSAM) AND TWO PRIVATE PERSONS IN A CHEATING CASE

            The Special Judge, CBI,Guwahati(Assam) has convicted Shri Nagendra Kalita, then Manager (P&A); Amol Kumar Bordoloi, then Clerk-cum-Typist & Dipak Deka, then Messenger-III, all of Numaligarh Refinery Ltd(NRL), Guwahati and two private persons i.e Shri Shams Uddin Ahmed, Managing Director & Shri Kanak Das, Manager, both of M/s NEB Communication Services Pvt. Ltd., Guwahati in a cheating case of Rs.36 lakh(approx). All the accused were sentenced to undergo two years Rigorous Imprisonment with fine of Rs.1000/-each.

 

            CBI had filed a Charge Sheet on 28.06.2002 U/s 120B, 420, 468, 471 IPC and Section 13(2) r/w Section 13(1)(d) of PC Act, 1988 in the court of Special Judge, CBI, Guwahati(Assam) against accused persons. It was alleged that the accused persons in criminal conspiracy amongst themselves had fraudulently allowed the private person to submit inflated bills and cheated Numaligarh Refinery Ltd. (NRL) to the tune of Rs.36 lakh(approx) by showing excess weight of the mails & manipulating actual weight.

 

            The Trial Court found the accused guilty and convicted them.
