CBI ARRESTS A SUPERINTENDENT ENGINEER AND AN ASSISTANT ENGINEER, BOTH OF MUNICIPAL CORPORATION OF DELHI IN AN ON-GOING INVESTIGATION RELATING TO A BRIBERY CASE OF RS.30 LAKH

            The Central Bureau of Investigation has today arrested a Superintendent Engineer and an Assistant Engineer, both of Municipal Corporation of Delhi in an on-going investigation relating to a bribery case.

 

            Both the accused will be produced tomorrow before the Special Judge for CBI Cases at Patiala House Courts, New Delhi.

 

            The CBI had earlier arrested 8 accused including officials of MCD; one of Delhi Development Authority(DDA) and private persons including an owner of a Gurgaon based private firm.

 

            It was alleged that accused officials of MCD were demanding & accepting the bribe of Rs.30 lakh as a part payment out of Rs. 50 lakh from the private persons, for which the deal was allegedly struck between the parties for grant of regularization to the Banquet Hall at Wazirpur Industrial Area, New Delhi. The private persons including one owner of Gurgaon-based private firm were also arrested while offering the alleged bribe to public servants

 

            The CBI laid a trap and arrested the public servants including the private persons along with the bribe money.

 

            During searches at various locations of accused public servants, more than Rs. One Crore in cash was recovered so far.

 

            Further investigation is in progress.
