CBI ARRESTS A MANAGER AND ANOTHER OFFICIAL OF NATIONAL HIGHWAY AUTHORITY OF INDIA (NHAI) FOR ACCEPTING A BRIBE OF RS.20,000/-

           The Central Bureau of Investigation as arrested a Manager(Technical) and Adhoc Office Assistant, both of National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) Narsinghpur (Madhya Pradesh) for demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs.20,000/- from the Complainant.

 

            Based on a complaint, a case was registered by CBI against Manager (Technical) and Adhoc Office Assistant, both of National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) Narsinghpur U/s 120-B of IPC & U/s 7 of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. It was alleged in the complaint that the said Manager, in conspiracy with Adhoc Office Assistant, demanded an illegal gratification @ 10% of the compensation / rehabilitation amount i.e. Rs.50,000/- of the total amount of Rs.2,47,769/- & Rs.2,53,175/- for showing favour in sanctioning compensation of the land of the complainant acquired by NHAI. It was also alleged that after negotiation, the bribe amount was reduced to Rs.40,000/- and on date 07.08.2013, first instalment of bribe amount of Rs. 20,000/- was received by the above said accused persons from the complainant.

 

            CBI laid a trap and the accused persons were caught red handed while demanding & accepting the second instalment of the bribe of Rs. 20,000/- in the presence of independent witnesses.

           

            Both the arrested accused were produced before the Special Judge, CBI Cases, Jabalpur and were remanded to Police Custody till 16.08.2013.
