THREE YEARS RIGOROUS IMPRISONMENT TO THEN DEPUTY COMMISSIONER OF INCOME TAX FOR ACCEPTING BRIBE OF Rs. 80,000/-

            The Special Judge for CBI cases, Mumbai has convicted Shri Roopak Narendra Bahadur, then Deputy Commissioner of Income Tax, Mumbai and sentenced him to undergo three years Rigorous Imprisonment with a fine of Rs.20,000/- in a bribery case.

 

            CBI had registered a case U/s 7 & 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) of PC Act, 1988 against Shri Roopak Narendra Bahadur, Dy. Commissioner of Income Tax, Mumbai for demanding a bribe of Rs. 80,000/- from the complainant for favouring him in his income tax assessment. A trap was laid and the accused was arrested while demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs. 80,000/- from the Complainant.

 

            After completion of investigation, charge sheet was filed against Shri Roopak Narendra Bahadur before the Special Court, Mumbai on 31.8.2009.

 

            The Trial Court found the accused guilty and convicted him.
