CBI TAKES UP INVESTIGATION OF FOUR CASES RELATING TO ALLEGED HUMAN TRAFFICKING THROUGH TWO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORTS IN KERALA

            The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered four cases relating to alleged human trafficking through Nedumbassery International Airport and Trivandrum International Airport, Kerala to certain Gulf countries.

 

            CBI took up the investigation of these cases which were earlier registered by Kerala Police on the request of Kerala Govt. and further notification from Govt. of India.

 

            The first case has been registered against eight accused persons including a Civil Police Officer(CPO); a Police Sub Inspector & six private persons. It was alleged that the accused persons in conspiracy with each others, fraudulently obtained the passport, in the name of a woman. In furtherance to the conspiracy one of the accused pasted her photograph on it, thereby prepared fake/forged passport and used it to go to Muscat with the connivance of a Sub Inspector, Immigration Wing, Nedumbassery, (Kochi) International Airport who was the Officer on duty at the counter. The alleged human trafficking through Kochi (Nedumbassery) International Airport to Gulf countries involves conspiracy of various immigration officers, travel agents and private persons.

 

            The second case has been registered against seven accused including a CPO; a Police Sub Inspector & five private persons and third case registered against five private persons. The allegation in brief is that the accused persons, with dishonest intention to make undue pecuniary benefit, entered into criminal conspiracy and offered women (who belong to very poor families), for job in foreign country with monthly salary @Rs. 20,000- 25,000/-. They took them through illegal means from Nedumbassery & Trivandrum International Airport to Muscat/ Sharjah and further to Dubai & Ajman. In furtherance to the conspiracy, the victims were threatened by the accused persons and subjected to physical torture and sexual assault.

 

            The fourth case has been registered against five accused persons including then two CPO & a Police Sub Inspector & two private persons. The allegation in brief is that the then CPO Nedumbassery Police Station, while working as a public servant entered into a criminal conspiracy and used a copy of the passport of the complainant without his knowledge & obtained idea mobile connection and used it for illegal activities at the Airport. Further he opened a bank account in the name of his father and allegedly received bribe in the above account from various travel agents for facilitating the illegal human trafficking from Kochi (Nedumbassery) International Airport to Gulf countries.

 

            Further investigation is continuing.
