CBI ARRESTS OFFICE SUPERINTENDENT OF INCOME TAX & TAX CONSULTANT AND ANOTHER OFFICE SUPERINTENDENT OF CENTRAL RAILWAYS IN SEPARATE CASES OF BRIBERY

            The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested an Office Superintendent of Income Tax and Tax Consultant for demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs.20,000/- from the Complainant.

 

            A case was registered U/s 120-B of IPC and Section 7, 8 of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 against Office Superintendent of Income Tax, 21(2); Pratyaksha Kar Bhavan, Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai and a Tax Consultant for demanding bribe of Rs.50,000/- from the Complainant for clearing his Income Tax Returns without any scrutiny. The accused agreed to accept part payment of the bribe amount of Rs.20,000/-. CBI laid a trap and the accused persons were caught red handed while demanding & accepting the part payment of bribe amount of Rs.20,000/- from the Complainant.

 

            In another case, the CBI has arrested an Office Superintendent of Central Railway for demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs.5000/- from the Complainant.

 

            A case was registered U/s 7 of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 against Office Superintendent (P) working in the Office of Chief Administrative Officer(Construction), Central Railway, CST, Mumbai for demanding a bribe of Rs.5000/- from the Complainant for expediting application of job which he was entitled as his agricultural land was acquired by government for construction of railway line.

 

            CBI laid a trap and the accused was caught red handed while demanding & accepting the bribe of Rs.5000/- from the Complainant.

 

            Further investigation is continuing.
