THREE YEARS RIGOROUS IMPRISONMENT TO THEN RAILWAY OFFICIAL AND THEN BRANCH MANAGER OF BANK OF INDIA IN SEPARATE CASES OF BRIBERY

            The Special Judge, Nagpur has convicted Sh. Mahadeo Bokade, then Head Clerk, DRM Office, Central Railway, Nagpur U/s 7, 13 (2) r/w 13 (1) (d) of Prevention of Act, 1988 & Section 468 of IPC and sentenced him to undergo three years Rigorous Imprisonment with total fine of Rs. 9,000/- in a bribery case.

 

            CBI had registered a case on the basis of a complaint. A trap was laid and the accused was caught red handed while demanding & accepting the bribe of Rs.25,000/- from the Complainant for processing the payment of arrears of 6th Pay Commission and also payment of leave encashment for the father of the Complainant. The accused had also dishonestly substituted the leave records of complainant’s father with forged leave records in order to increase the balance of leave in his credit by removing the original service sheets.

 

            In another case, the Special Judge for CBI Cases, Nagpur has convicted accused Sh. Manik Pandurang Dahat, then Branch Manager, Bank of India, Takalghat Branch, Nagpur and sentenced him to undergo three years Rigorous Imprisonment with total fine of Rs.3,000/ in a bribery case.

 

            CBI had registered a case against Manik Pandurang Dahat, then Branch Manager, Bank of India, Takalghat Branch, Nagpur on the basis of a complaint. It was alleged that Manik Dahat, then Branch Manager, Bank of India, Takalghat Branch, Nagpur demanded bribe of Rs.2,000/- from the complainant for sanctioning personal loan of the Rs. one lakh to him. The accused was caught red handed while demanding & accepting the bribe of Rs.2,000/- from the complainant. A chargesheet was filed on 29.09.2006.

 

            The Trial Court found the accused persons guilty and convicted them.
