THREE YEARS RIGOROUS IMPRISONMENT TO THEN GENERAL MANAGER OF CENTRAL COALFIELDS LTD AND A PRIVATE PERSON IN A CHEATING CASE

            The Special Judge for CBI Cases, Ranchi has sentenced Shri Bishwanah Sahu, then General Manager (Safety), Central Coalfields Ltd., Ranchi to undergo three years Rigorous Imprisonment with total fine of Rs.35,000/- and Shri Sanjeev Chatterjee, Representative of Kolkata based private firm to undergo three years Rigorous Imprisonment with total fine of Rs.30,000/- in a cheating case.

 

            CBI had registered a case on 05.05.1994 against Shri Bishwanath Sahu, Ex GM(Safety), CCL, Ranchi and Shri Sanjeev Chatterjee, Representative of two Kolkata based private firms on the allegations pertaining to procurement of first aid boxes at exorbitant rate and thereby cheating the CCL authorities to the tune of Rs.14,16,000/-(approx). During investigation, 19 witnesses were examined.

 

            After investigation, a chargesheet was filed on 30.12.1994 U/s 120B, 420, 467, 468 & 471 of IPC and Section 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) of PC Act, 1988.

 

            The Trial Court found the accused guilty and convicted them.
