CBI FILES A CHARGESHEET AGAINST THEN SUB POST MASTER FOR CAUSING AN ALLEGED LOSS OF Rs. 8.57 LAKHS (APPROX.)

            The Central Bureau of Investigation has filed a chargesheet against the then Sub Post Master, Salamatpur Mandi, Head Post Office, Raisen (MP) in the Court of Special Judge for CBI cases, Bhopal U/s 409, 420, 467, 468, 471, 477-A & 204 IPC and U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(c) of PC Act 1988 in an alleged loss of Rs. 8.57 lakhs (approx.).

 

            A Case was registered on 20.12.2012 U/s 409, 420, 465, 468, 471 of IPC and Sec. 13(2) r/w 13(1)(c) of PC Act, 1988 against the then Sub Post Master, Salamatpur Mandi, Post Office, Raisen (MP) on the allegations that while functioning as Sub Post Master the accused had misappropriated the amount by way of not accounting for deposits of Time deposits & Monthly Investment Scheme and issuing pass books to respective account holders under his signature. The accused also made entries to this effect in the respective pass books without making entries in the government records. He also used to collect & withdraw the amounts from 34 saving bank accounts of account holders, however he did not account for the deposits and withdrawal in the government account. He had also forged the signatures of accounts holders to withdraw the money from SB accounts of various accounts holders and misappropriated an alleged amount of Rs. 8,57,580/- (approx.).

 

            After investigation, a chargesheet was filed in the Designated Court at Bhopal (MP).

 

            The public is reminded that the above findings are based on the investigation done by CBI and evidence collected by it. Under the Indian Law, the accused are presumed to be innocent till their guilt is finally established after a fair trial.
